What you can do during a crisis

During an emergency situation or disaster, your safety is also in your hands. It is important to understand the situation, to have the skills and knowledge required for action, and to stay informed.

NL-Alert

In the course of disastrous incidents, you might receive an NL-Alert. This is a telephonic message from the government describing the incident and its location. It also states what your plan of action should be and mentions useful information sites.

Sirens

The siren goes off. Is it 12 o’clock on the first Monday of the month? Then there is no need for panic, this is the monthly siren test. Do you hear the siren any other moment of the day? That means danger is ahead. The siren functions as a warning system, it is crucial you remain safe.
